◗History:
    Jojo was born to a lower middle class family in Castelia city, raised by her parents and grandmother. Due to her blindness, her parents (mostly her father) went to great lengths to dote on her and keep her safe in what could easily be called a rough neighborhood. In the beginning she never minded receiving help- (an active and sometimes mischievous child, she soon realized that playing the pity card worked wonders for getting out of trouble at school), but as she grew older, she developed a fierce sense of pride. Her father had coached her in using Detect to sense her surroundings. Being able to navigate her handicap made her feel she was as capable as her peers. When she realized, or rather feared, that people were still looking down on her, she became paranoid and determined to fight that notion. The young Eevee vehemently protested any offer of help or demonstration of pity. While still a little unsure of herself, becoming strong and independent became an obsession for her; She couldn't be weak, she had to catch up to the other kids! This was only pushed forward by her friends- equally rambunctious children who encouraged her to be more assertive. Jojo was already difficult to handle due to her energy, but as she got more confrontational it only got worse.

    This growing confidence earned her some more respect among her young peers. However, it's needless to say the Moores were not pleased when they found their little girl had gotten into sparring with other kids after school. First of all she was too young for it, and second, why did their handicapped child have to keep trying to match up to the other kids her age? Regardless of scoldings and warnings, Jojo fell in love with battling. Even if she wasn't good at it, it made her feel tough, and she was certain if she proved to her parents that she was capable they wouldn't be so overbearing, but all her attempts to gain their approval only left them more upset. The biggest source of tension at home was the topic of Jojo's evolution. Her fixation on strength left her absolutely set on evolving into a Flareon, as she considered fire to be the ultimate symbol of strength, but neither of her parents would allow it. Her mother was sure Jojo's lack of sight and irresponsible nature would make her too dangerous with fire. Her overprotective father would never approve of something that encouraged her enthusiasm for battle. They had countless arguments but Jojo was never able to convince them to buy her a Fire Stone.

    Family tensions finally came to a head when a 9 year old Jojo got into a fight with another child in the middle of the school day. Neither was left too injured, but both were suspended for a short time, and Jojo's mother snapped at her. Both she and Jojo's father had to work hard to keep a stable life for this family and this child had the nerve to run them ragged trying to be something she's not. Why couldn't she just accept that there are some things she can't do?

    The lecture and sentiments like that hit the Eevee hard, and not for the better. Her growing confidence had plummeted, but she couldn't show that to her peers, right? She told herself it didn't matter what her family thought as long as her friends approved of her. Insecure and inadequate, she covered her worries by becoming more aggressive than ever. When her friends started getting into tougher battles, she followed them without hesitation. Her attitude and stubborn penchant for battling gave her an angry reputation she was only glad to fulfill. As she got more practice with battling and Detect, she could find her way around and even fight as well as anyone could, and she was always determined to prove it. By the time she hit 12, the Eevee had become horribly quick tempered and violent to mask her own self loathing. 

    Home life worsened. Jojo's parents were busy enough without being exhausted with her volatile nature; not to mention humiliated by their inability to keep her in check. Another day, another fight, another call from a frazzled teacher or angered parent. Jojo seemed content to break whatever rules she didn't like and either shrugged her shoulders or lashed out at punishments. The family became tense and distant. Over and over they butted heads over the matter of Jojo's evolution. As much as Jojo told herself she didn't care, she desperately wanted her parents to give her a Firestone and show they thought she was good enough. 

    Her disposition seemed to shift again throughout the end of middle school. She'd met some calmer friends and Eevee began to mellow out just a little. Sure she still got into trouble with her other friends, but she was genuinely starting to feel better about herself. A characteristic toothy grin popped out more and more often. She had good friends, she was getting stronger, and sooner or later she'd have the money to buy her own Firestone.. right?

    It was during a practice spar with a friend that she accidentally evolved, and Jojo was devastated. The affection she had for her new peers was enough to evolve her, but... Sylveon, of all things? The least intimidating option? She hated it. Never mind that she couldn't be a fire type; She was so petite, she had these ridiculous ribbons she could hardly control.. she was laughable, and she hated it and herself more than anything. But what could she do? Her friends made fun of her enough, she couldn't show even more weakness by letting it slip how upset she was. And what if she made her friend feel guilty for evolving her? She swallowed her disappointment and directed her anger at her parents. Her confidence was shattered; Her parents didn't think she was good enough and because of it, she was now a weak, pathetic fairy. The incident ruined her relationship with them and gave her a strong bitterness towards others making decisions for her.

    There was nothing left for Jojo to do but learn to cope with her evolution. She forced herself to get up and get into whatever trouble her friends were in like always, but her less aggressive attitude and dim acceptance of her friends' teasing comments revealed her unhappiness. This was when she met Shayona, a stoic Cleffa girl with a surprisingly violent temper. Shay was absorbed into her social circle, and Jojo quickly took to her. Shay seemed to.. at least tolerate her, until something of a fight occurred between them over the topic of Jojo's self-esteem. Which is to say, Jojo triggered the Cleffa's temper and Shayona beat the shit out of her. What had started as an innocent investigation as to why the Sylveon seemed so unsatisfied ended in a brawl after Jojo admitted she didn't want to be some weak Fairy type. Shay quite literally beat it into her: Fairies aren't weak. And what if someone thinks they are? You prove them otherwise. You don't mope around thinking about the things you hate about yourself, you change them or work around them. Needless to say, the message stuck. Jo's scrappiness spiked again; Fighting became a crutch for her confidence. Even if she was a fairy, she could fight, and damn anyone who underestimated her. For better or for worse, the self-esteem was climbing again.

    High school went on. She got into a blur of trouble. Friends and relationships came and went. Jojo decided that it didn't matter if her friends approved of her, it only mattered if she approved of herself. She was happy to find that she honestly didn't hate being a Sylveon anymore- Unfortunately it took many fights in and outside of school to get her to that point, but at least she was feeling better..?

    Jojo was 16 when the news came that her family would be moving to Sinnoh, thanks to her mother getting a huge job opportunity in Jubilife. Initially displeased by the information, she did her best to turn it around. This would just be an opportunity to break things off with the people she didn't need around and start fresh in a new region. She callously broke things off with most of her old friends, content to spend a relatively peaceful summer with the final 3. It didn't last long, however. When one got into a tragic accident, Jojo couldn't come to terms with the incident and refused to speak of it. This drove a rift between her and another friend, causing them to lose touch. The Sylveon spent the rest of the summer with Shayona, convincing herself that everything in Castelia would stay in the past. She didn't have to think about old friends, she only had to reinvent herself in Jubilife.

    The move came and the Moores were off to Sinnoh. The search began for a school that Jojo could attend as a last minute applicant. Now that Mrs. Moore's job afforded them more money, new opportunities were available; And much to Jojo's surprise and annoyance, the new plan was for boarding school. It was difficult to fiind a school that met everyone's standards- her father insisted on safe, her mother insisted on strict, and her grandmother expected an Arceist school above all else. Finally they found St. Mortiel, a nice-looking school that seemed to meet all their qualifications. The only issue was that it was a couple cities over.

    At this point, Jojo insisted that she would be fine. She figured she could turn this whole boarding school idea in her favor- Getting away from her family would give her the perfect opportunity to start fresh while being able to get away with more trouble. Hearthome City might not have that Unovan charm, but it would do. Her family relented, sending in an application for her on the grounds that she had better behave herself...

    And so the Sylveon was off, mind full of Shayona's advice. She would make a reputation for herself and stick to it. No more letting friends push her around or put her down. No restricting, disappointed parents. She'd make something good out of this.

◗Post Arrival
    Jojo showed up in Hearthome wearing cocky false smiles and setting up the persona of a queen, only to be believed in and encouraged by her peers. The clean slate and change in pace has brought out the alpha dog she's always wanted to be; Charismatic and fierce, with a circle of good friends behind her. She's disagreed with her fair share of students but found herself proud to hold the genuine respect and love of others. Jojo hasn't exactly been a model student since her arrival, but her grades have improved and she's been happier at Mortiel than she's been for a long time. She's even managed to get more serious about battle; Truly believing that she can have a career in it has motivated her to pursue professional battling. She's determined to become an inspiration to anyone who's been put down for a handicap or for being a fairy.

    Still, St. Mortiel has certainly been a shock to the system for this fairy. Her tendency to force problems down instead of fixing them is starting to catch up to her as the events and people in Hearthome reopen old wounds. Culture shock hit her hard- She's retained her Unovan pride and temper, only to estrange her friends with her violence on more than one occasion. And, much to her annoyance, that's affecting her more than such an independent person would like. Fighting is how she boosts her self esteem, and she doesn't know what to do without it. She finds herself wondering if she has to sacrifice her own self respect for the respect of her friends... And if so, is that worth it? She's still confronting her misgivings about herself, and "fake it till you make it" can only get you so far.
